We a re seeking Ph.D. students and post-doctoral researchers to join our team and expect to hire 3–5 new team members in the coming Winter and Fall. In addition, a number of other faculty at Northwestern are collaborating on these projects and/or expanding other exciting Computer Engineering and Syst ems projects. Highly-qualified students to whom I cannot make offers will be recommended to other Computer Engineering and Systems faculty with growing research groups. For example, Prof. Peter Dinda is currently seeking to hire a technical staff member to work on an extensible virtual machine monitor f ramework. The Northwestern Computer Engineering and Systems Division is spec ial. We have a few senior experts and many excellent, young, highly-ambitiou s, junior professors who frequently collaborate. Summaries of the projects likely to experience greatest expansion in the com ing year follow: Multiprocessor system-on-chip synthesis Thermal analysis and temperature-aware synthesis of reliable integrated circ uits Optimizing client-server systems subject to user satisfaction Sensor network synthesis: opening the use of wireless sensor networks to app lication experts Thermal modeling, management, and optimization for high-performance integrat ed circuit testing Hardware-software techniques to eliminate off-chip voltage regulation circui try from embedded systems Our team also works on a number of other research topics, most of which focu s on the analysis, design, and synthesis of embedded systems. We are most ac tive in Embedded Systems, Computer-Aided Design, and Very Large Scale Integr ation Systems research. Many team members participate in two projects at a t ime. Seeking research assistants

My research group is expanding a number of projects in the coming year. We a
