The research project will be on the computational modeling of the mechanical and tribological behavior of materials with micro/nano-defects. Students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or Civil Engineering are encouraged to apply. The student with the background in solid mechanics and the knowledge of a programming language (e.g., FORTRAN or C) is preferred. The expected start date of the PhD study is August 2011.
