It is more important to built a reasonable social cycle in a short time. Personally myself also faced this problem when I arrived Columbia. Because there was no PhD student from WHU in the Chem Dept of Columbia. So I had to get to know enough people to help me adjust to the new situation. And actually I made it. Yep, I totally agree with you. It is more important to built a reasonable social cycle in a short time. Personally myself also faced this problem when I arrived Columbia. It was not so difficult to built some relationship with people you never know them before.
