It\'s simply irrelevant.They usually look for people who have 1) a strong academic record 2) a reasonably clear idea on what he/she wants to do. Prior research experience will help both. My whole point was, if he were to do a masters and did reasonably well, I am pretty sure he will get to a better place after that than he can do now. I will be surprised otherwise. Of course the cost is time and money.
